Ecology of Milton Parc - how citizen projects have galvanized the neighbourhood

This walk, given by the founder of the Montreal Urban Ecology Center of Montreal, offers a background on the importance that ecological projects have played in the development of the Milton-Park community. Green rooftops and alleys may seem natural now and an integral part of Montreal, but citizens first had to mobilize to create this social change in our city. What values and vision were we trying to put forward ? How can we learn from them? We will analyse how these changes occurred through a few projects of the Milton-Park community. These accomplishments will be the light guiding the walk. We will then visit the Urban Ecology Center to talk about the accomplishments of the MUEC from 1996-2006. Ultimately, this interactive walk will lead us to ask ourselves: How do we create democratic, ecological cities?
