In Search of the Papineau Woods in Park Lafontaine

In search of the Papineau Woods is a walk through an area that 200 years ago was a woods and today is the eastern side of Park Lafontaine. This Jane's walk will mark the beginning of an interactive, ephemeral art installation by Loren Williams in which botanical images of plants that once grew in the Papineau Woods become visible at ground level when it rains, or when water is added to the different sites by viewers. The walk will visit the art installation, the largest trees on the island of Montreal (which are located in Park Lafontaine) and the route of a stream, now underground, which originally ran through the woods. Participants are invited to bring along a water bottle or plant spritzer to discover botanical images in the art installation. The walk begins in front of the Centre Calixa-Lavallée, located in the heart of Park Lafontaine and ends at the Cantine Robin des Bois, also located in the park.
